2-MIX engine with stratified scavenging: More power and fewer emissions - thanks to the innovative combination of a cylinder with four-port technology and stratified scavenging, the new STIHL 2-MIX engine manages to achieve precisely that. The new engine technology delivers high torque over a large speed range, with up to 20 percent lower fuel consumption. And with roughly 70 percent fewer emissions, the new STIHL 2-MIX engine effortlessly complies with the stringent EU II emission standards for power tools.


Long-life filter system with pre-separation:The air filter system used in the new generation of chain saws permits considerably longer intervals between servicing, for the integrated pre-separation effectively relieves the downstream filter elements. The intake air is swirled by a flywheel, thus hurling larger and heavier dirt particles outwards so that they do not reach the actual filter itself. As a result, the STIHL MS 171, MS 181 and MS 211 can run for up to four times as long as their predecessors without having to clean their filters.


Professional anti-vibration system: The anti-vibration handle system with special springs reduces vibrations by up to 30 percent. As a result, the STIHL MS 171, MS 181 and MS 211 ensure optimum guidance with particularly good rigidity. New PMMC3 saw chain: The new Picco Micro Mini Comfort 3 from STIHL is the first low-vibration saw chain for the low performance class. The PMMC3 owes its particularly high cutting performance to the extremely narrow kerf. And it is extremely durable, for the new saw chain achieves an extremely long service life as compared to the preceding model.


High performance, low vibrations: PMC3 and PMMC3 display exceedingly low kickback tendency and low vibrations. The low level of vibrations is attributable to the fact that the cutting teeth and tie links are beveled at the back of the running surface. When the cutting tooth comes into contact with the timber, it gently swings back, thus damping the force of the impact on the guide bar. In this way, the low-vibration saw chains from STIHL achieve a high cutting and plunge-cutting performance with minimum vibrations.


STIHL ErgoStart: Comfortable and convenient: compared with conventional starting aids, the STIHL ErgoStart halves the effort needed to start the chain saw. It considerably reduces the starting speed and prevents jerking.
